My body is numb right now, I am not mad or upset, but this feeling just comes over me that is insane.

Anyway, I'm sure you want to hear what happened, if not, skip it or some shit. The first 2 levels I didn't play a hand, I picked up a few antes, but no confrontations. I hit a set in the 3rd level and got paid off by 2 or 3 players, even though I had not played anything, heeeeehawwww.
Now here come where I made a mistake, or atleast got crippled. I pick up 10-10 in the SB and it gets raised by a gut it middle position, a player Ive played with a bunch and respect, I had put him on AK preflop and decided to just call. The flop came 983 and I checked, he bet 1600 and I thought I had the best hand, but also wanted to make it look like I flopped a set, in case I could knock him off JJ or QQ, so I raised another 1800. He calls. The turn comes a 7 giving me an open ended straight as well. I bet out 2800, he thinks for a moment and calls. I know I am beat right now, I think he has JJ QQ or KK, but I really felt I could knock him off the hand. The river came a 4 and I bet out 5300. After a few minutes, and a 5 second window where I thought for sure he was folding, he calls me with AA. Ouch, that fucking sucks. That knocked me down to about 6k. I tread water for a few hours be fore I pick up QQ UTG with 200-400 blinds and a 50 ante. I make it 1400 and Huck Seed, who had just sat down, makes it 5100. Its folded around to me and I am not in love with this situation, I respect this reraise and can only hope he has AK or JJ, but I am also going to be at 1/8th avg stack if I fold AND QQ was the best hand I had picked up all day, so I reraised him my last 400 and he turns over AK. A on the door and Im packing up my bags. I wished everyone goodluck and left.

Anyway, thats the story, B

Happy Holidays, Adios 2005, Hello 2006!

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Please don't drink and drive!

2005 was a good year for me, I have laid the ground work for www.ProPokerSchool.com and www.PokerTrails.com, and I am happy with where they are at. Pokerwise, I had slowed down a little bit as I worked on some of these ventures, but I also was building up and saving energy for 2006.

Well, now 2006 is right around the corner, and I have some plans to knock the whole poker world on its ass. I am planning on playing around 300 live events this year as I give the #1 POY title my first real run. I am curious as to where I truely stand, and believe that I have a very real oppurtunity to end up in the top 5 at the end of the year.

Set some goals for yourself in 2006, and lets have fun chasing them down!

Keep swinging, Brett "gank" Jungblut

Gank in Paradise!!!

After taking the last few months off from multi table tourneys, mainly to work on the launch and start of www.ProPokerSchool.com, I have gone back to MTT play. My Dad and brother live their, and TV coverage and pictures still did not have me prepared for the complete anialation of the Coast. Literally every house with-in a few miles of the Coast had sustained substantial damage. Not to mention I saw, cars on houses, houses on cars, and slabs of concrete where there used to be $500,000 homes. Also, the 10-20 foot floods have left what literally looks like a never-ending clothes line, with almost every tree having shirts, pants, toys, shoes, and anything else that got snagged in the limbs of the trees during the flooding. It really is sureal. People are starting to put their lives back together, but there are still streets filled with debris, many business still closed, and the ones that are open, almost always have a help-wanted sign up in the window. Prices for fixing houses has almost doubled as demand is at unmeetable levels right now. As the media fades away, as they tend to almost always do, there will be less focus on helping the Coast rebuild. After seeing how bad things really are down there, I think it is important for us to remain alert to real needs of real people down on the Gulf Coast. It has been around 5 weeks since the hurricane, and they are just starting to regain some sort of normalcy.

Also, www.ProPokerSchool.com is about to make history, it is not to late to be part of the first class, check it out.

On the road again, Brett "gank" Jungblut

On the road again!

I have a wedding to be at on the 17th in Maryland, one of my best friend's is getting married. The results are not necessarily great, but I have put myself in great positions this week, for good money, by playing incredible poker. I feel very strong about my NL game, the game I feel is my weakest, as the WSOP approaches. I have been careful this year to save enough energy and drive for what will be a very intense and grueling month and a half. I have cashed in my last 3 live tourneys, and continue to dominate online. With one month to go, I feel that I am on schedule to make a very serious run during the WSOP.

Also, if you have not yet been to my new online poker magazine, you have to check it out... www.pokertrails.com

Smile! Finally!

Well, after a long couple of winter months I am finally breaking out of my funk. I had lost confidence and felt like I was trying to climb Mt. Everest barefoot, not a lot of fun. So, to build my confidence back up I went to my CBP, or Confidence Building Plan. Sound silly? Maybe it is, but not sillier then dropping money into games where you feel overmatched, outplayed, or unlucky. When this feeling comes over me for extended periods of time, I know that I will be in for a long skid if I don't take action. The #1 important thing to remember when you hit this stage is that you are no longer trying to build your bankroll, it is your confidence that you need to build back up. To do this I drop down several levels of limits where I know for sure that I outclass my opponents. Then I just go at it full swing and let myself get back into a groove and remember what it is like to be winning again. Sundenly, after a while you will find yourself back in to yourold rythym. Now your ready to build your BR again. Poker is a tough game and can be draining, be realistic with yourself about your abilities and know your strengths and weaknesses, that alone will make you a much tougher player.

I've been playing in some of the Winnin' O' Green tourneys at the bike. I have made it deep in several but nothing to brag about. Check out my new site www.PokerTrails.com for more updates and articles from my staff and I.

Till next time, Brett

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gankowns.blogspot.com/2005/03/getting-back-in-gear-finally.html' title='Getting back in gear........ It was a very long month with little good news to report. I only played about 7 events in Tunica due to combination of not feeling well and not feeling well about my game.

But............ I'm back now!

I've settled back down in the comfort of my crib, and have been really attacking tournaments online. Whenever my Live tourney game gets off, I like to come back and play a lot online, because I get to see where I've been messing up since I get to be in the same position a lot more often. I've been making final tables left and right, and have a shot to win the pokerstars TLB this week.

I've been told that I have made the Online Top Poker Player's poll at www.PocketFives.com
Check it out, it is pretty cool!

I've played a few tourneys at the commerce, again nothing to report, but I feel something is lurking around the corner. Carrie, my girlfriend, and I took Amtrak from LA to Memphis via Chicago. It was a little more then 2 days, but it gave me a chance to relax a little bit and think about the upcoming year. Through quality record keeping of my tournaments that I have entered and my results for those tourneys, I have been able to analyze where my strengths are and what I need to work on. My biggest weakness last year, was the game of No-limit holdem. No Limit, unlike most people, was the last game I learned. I feel I am an great player, but at this level, that isn't always enough. There is something missing from my NL game, and until I figure out what it is, I will be approaching the game of NL much more cautiously. This will allow me to concentrate on the other games without the constant pressure of having to overcome a monthly 10k loss in a Main event. I have decided that I will be concentrating more on Super satellites as a way to enter into the main events for substantially less money. Also, if I score big in a smaller NL tourney prior to a main event, then I will probably enter the main event. Maybe all I am missing is just experience, but either way, for now I feel much better about my new cautious approach to NL.

With that being said, I would officially like to announce my goals for 2005.

2005 Goals

1. I will be entering a blog for every tourney I enter and keeping track of my overall +/- for the day and year, to allow you to have a deeper understanding of the fiscal aspect of big tourney poker.

My first tourney is tomorrow, and it is pot limit Omaha, the game of choice in the dirty, dirty South.

Ill talk to you tomorrow after I get back from the tourney.

peACE,

Brett "gank" Jungblut

A long December...

Merry X-mas! Well, the last few weeks of my life have been very challenging, as several of my business projects are starting to move forward and are starting to develop as I had envisioned. My good friend and business partner came up to visit me for a week last week, Jason Bullock. He has helped me a tremendous amount with the IT side of my endeavors. It was the first time we met face to face, and Jason is a cool guy and not just a genius! I have a feeling we will be working together for a lont time.

Also, my brother Rob and his wife, Thais, arrived in LA yesterday, and will be here till after the New Year. I am very excited, as my brother and I were very competitive and close growing up, and it has been over 10 months since I had seen him last.

Have a safe week everyone, and get ready to bring in the greatest year ever!

Brett

December in California

Well, I have settled back down, being home now for a little over a week. I have been getting into the online groove. It is a much faster pace, but I do like it! Anyway, my brother and his wife are going to spend Christmas with Carrie nad I. My Mom and my sister will be visiting Rome for the holidays, so they will not be joining us. As far as poker goes, I had been running a little sour, but things seem to have turned around. I have decided to concentrate on just playing online for the remainder of the year, and then when the new season begins in January come out fresh and rested. The live poker circuit can be very grueling, and honestly, with this being my first full year on the tour, I wasn't ready for it. However, it has been a very good year for me, having won my first WSOP bracelet as well as making 6 final tables throughout the year. I will continue to post in this journal. Have a safe holiday weekend everyone. I picked up Jacks on my second hand and pushed All in. No callers. Then I picked up AK, All in again, again no callers. We started the day with 191 players, 60 of which would make the $. As I continued to play into the afternoon, I found myself at 27k. I was getting ready to go on our 3rd break of the day when I picked up KK in late position. to my surprise, the guy to my left moved all in for 35k. I had 24k, and quickly pushed my chips in. He had AJ. I eyed the television showing 75 players left, I was happy to be in this position. Winning this would almost assure me getting into the money. However, the first two cards off the deck were jacks, and a blank on the turn and river ended my dream at 1.5 million dollars. I was out.

Im heading back down to my Mom's house in NJ tommorrow. Good luck this week. With 20 minutes to go, I picked up AA under the gun. I raised it 4x the big blind, trying to make it look like I had AK. I think it worked, because the big blind called ( I wanted this). The flop came 9-5-5 with two clubs, a great flop for my hand. especially heads up. Anyway, the BB had 9-9 and turned my 25k into 6k.

On better news, Annie Duke really liked the www.FashionAce.com necklace that I gave to her and I got a picture with her wearing it!! Annie Rocks!!! Shout outs for my Sigma Chi brothers who showed up to support me, and to Def Jam Records for trying to hook it up.

6k and a dream tommorrow, wish me luck! I need to grind out 13 straight hours of poker without making any mistakes if I want to be in good position for day 3. 1/2 the field played today in day 1. About 660 entrants put up ten thousand dollars, and over 200 of them are already done, their dreams shattered, atleast until they see another big payday on the horizon. 98 made it past day 1, and earned a break on Sunday while the remaining players get their first day of poker in on day 2. It can get confusing, so I hope your still with me. Anyway, I am looking forward to waking up and kicking butt. I am fortunate that about 10 of my Sigma Chi Fraternity brothers drove up and are going to be supporting me tomorrow. Ok, Im off to bed. Good night. I've spent the last few days based at my mom's house in New Jersey. It has been quite a fun last couple of days, as I brought Carrie, my girlfriend, around to places that were important in my life as I was growing up. Baseball fields I used to play on, schools I used to go to, old stores I used to frequent, and stuff like that. It wastruely a blast, as it brought back a lot of childhood memories. Seeing my Mom again made me very happy, as I had not seen her in nearly a year. Yesterday, Carrie and I went up to Long Island to visit my friend Eric and his beautiful family. After that, we went into New York City, and stopped at one of my Fraternity brother (I'm a Sigma Chi) and former roomate in college, Ben Sloan. After relaxing for a bit, we went out to a bar to meet up with a few more of our friends. James Hanson, one of my frat brothers, and a life long friend of mine, Jeff Varcadipane met up with us at Puck Fare, the bar we were at. Carrie, also met with two of her friends from her Denver days. We had fun! Oh, by the way, I don't drink anymore, so the tab wasn't to bad. We drove back to my Mom's house and got in at about 2 am. We are leaving for Foxwood's in about an hour or so, I'll let you know how it is going...........
